Nordfjordeid Summer school 2015
Lie groups and pseudogroups actions:
From classical to differential invariants

Location

Aim and scope

The main goal of the school is to provide an introduction to the modern theory of classical and differential invariants and the methods for their computations. Recent years have seen advances in this theory, of which we name Lie-Tresse type theorems for finite generation of invariants, Bernstein-Gelfand-Gelfand technique in parabolic geometries, development of Cartan's method of equivalence and the method of equivariant moving frame, and the novel applications of Bott-Borel-Weil theorem. We will start with a general introduction to the topic, aimed at PhD students.
